1066: The Game
- Tags: England, battle, war, military, Hastings
Description:1066 is the most famous date in British history, but how might events have been different if you had been commanding the armies that fought for control of England? Take part in our unique and historically accurate strategy game and you'll take the field with the Saxons, the Normans and the Vikings to fight out the visceral, dynamic battles which decided England's fate.
1066 The Game puts you into the thick of the action, giving you direct control over every arrow barrage, cavalry charge and defensive stand taken by your armies. On-the-button mini-games add to the tension of issuing commands, and a striking visual and dramatic animation deliver a distinctive portrayal of medieval warfare.
A multiplayer option offers the chance to test your mettle against friends or other 1066 players. Rather than just relying on factual statistics, victory also depends on the morale of your troops, which played a crucial role on the eleventh-century battlefields. Taunts, chants and the presence of a strong leader will all prove key to winning the day.

It was worth looking for.
The game follows a brief story line of the three major battles leading to The Normans taking England in 1066 with a brief but informative narration before battles. The player fights first as the invading Vikings, the defending Saxons and finally the conquering Normans, using the unique units and attack/defense/courage ratio for each team. The game play mixes good control of the units on the field with interactive fights, charges, arrow bombardments and taunts, to make the player a bit more involved. The controls for the interactive segments were a little tricky at first but were easily mastered after using them a few times.

|Review:||I was very impressed with the game. It has some very clever touches to get you involved in it, such as having you type taunts to help your side's morale. I found the controls on arrow barrages to be hard to use.|
